Lake
Because we are on one of Maine’s
largest lakes, power boating across it’s vast
stretches is a great pleasure. Whether you’re
navigating a 5 foot dinghy or a 20 foot covered
cabin cruiser, you’ll fall in love with the
shimmering water and the splendid scenery. Even
though we’re on a large lake, we’re relatively free
of boat traffic so you will not be overwhelmed with
other boats at anytime. In fact, depending on when
you stay you may not see another boat all day.
Finally, if you are inclined to bring a boat,
whether it be a powerboat or sailboat, you should
feel entirely confident to do so…we have
ample, spacious, protected docking for large personal watercraft. And if you don’t
happen to own a boat…no problem…we have an excellent
selection of safe, high quality, 16’ aluminum rental
boats with motors available for guests use.

We
are located on a 22 mile long, 16,000 acre lake that
is relatively undeveloped. Because of this whether
you are renting a boat from Rideout’s or are lucky
enough to have one of your own, prior to venturing
out on the water for the first time we would ask you
to attend a short boating safety review. On top of
the list is a discussion of water hazards. There
are not many but you should be aware of the few that
do exist. This is followed a by discussion of lake
features in which we will distribute copies of our
internally developed lake map. This will aid you
greatly in monitoring your location on the water
when you are underway. Finally we will cover the
locations of the recent fishing “hot spots”, so that
you will have access to the most up-to-date fishing
information as it changes each day. This review
will aid you greatly in your enjoyment of the lake
and help ensure your safety while on the water.

Off
for a long boat ride
Docking
We
are accustomed to handling our guest’s personal
boats, and are well known for our spacious,
protected docking. All of our docks (one over 200 feet long) are
located well within protected Davenport cove. We can
safely accommodate most any private watercraft without the
risk of damage from even the worst of storms. In
addition, all of our docks are well constructed, a
full 8’ wide, and smooth, so that guests can easily
access their boats, including those that are
physically challenged.
Road Access & Launches
Have
you ever damaged your tow vehicle or boat just
trying to reach a vacation destination? You won’t
at Rideout’s. We are lucky to have exceptionally
easy access - located less than one mile off of US
Route 1 on paved roads. And when it comes to
launching your boat, you won’t have any trouble…
we’ve got two good boat launches on our property and a
newly paved public launch within a 2 minute walk of
the Lodge.

Bring your boat
Gas & Service
Marine gas (89 octane) and oil is
available as well as full dock service for those who
elect the full service American Plan.
