Map of Cabin Locations At Rideout's
Our cabins in Maine are divided into
two large pieces separated by a roadway about 650
feet in length. The two halves are within a short
easy 5 minute walk of each other.
The “upper half” (or northern section
of property) is
where most of our American Plan lodging occurs due
to the proximity of the restaurant and lodging style
cabins in Maine. In addition there are many housekeeping
cabins in the "upper half", as well as some limited
“overnight cabins” available during the
summer months only.
The “lower half” (or southern section
of property) is dedicated to housekeeping lodging
only (with the exception of 7 day minimum, Saturday
to Saturday, American Plan reservations).

Cabin #142 in "upper half" great porch!
Lakeside and Lakeview Cabins in Maine
Another way that we distinguish the
two halves of the property is by saying that the
"lower half" cabins are our lakeside
cabins because they are all lined up along the
shoreline and have unobstructed lake views. On
the other hand we often refer to the cabins in the
"upper half" as lake view cabins as
most are set back slightly from the lake and they
are situated in a cluster around the main lodge
building. There are distinct advantages
of staying in either half. The "lower half" cabins are larger
and sit on larger lots, which means more space
between cabins, more area for
the
kids to play, and a
bit more privacy. The "lower half"
cabins also their own private docks.
The "upper half cabins"
are situated closer together in a cluster and are on
smaller lots, however they do have the following
advantages:
Next to the longest
fishing dock (215 feet long...great to fish from!)
Next to the recreation
room in the lodge (fun for the kids at night or on
rainy days)
Next to the lake side
restaurant (housekeepers can sign up for dinners on
Wed-Sat).
Next to the sandy beach
Next to the
canoe/kayak/paddleboat staging area (easy access).
Better view from the
lodge area overall (longer view to Canada)
