Directions to Rideout’s Lodge on East
Grand Lake
We are located in the heart of the
Maine woods on East Grand Lake just outside the town
of Danforth and about 31 miles south of Houlton,
Maine. The drive to Rideout’s is on all good paved
roads and the vast majority of the drive is on the
major interstate I-95. In the section below you
will find easy driving directions to East Grand Lake
and Rideout’s Lodge. The closest airport is Bangor
which is 1 hour and 45 minutes south of the lodge.
By Automobile
There are two main options……….
1. Follow
the Maine turnpike (I-95) north to the Lincoln exit
(exit #227, old exit #55). Take route 6 east to
Springfield, then Route 169 north to Danforth,
finally proceed 3 miles north of Danforth on US
Route 1 and turn right at Butterfield Landing Road
(at the turn you will see a small blue and white
sign for Rideout’s Lodge - same intersection as
“Grand Lake Variety” a quick stop convenience
store). Proceed down to the lake and Lodge (less
than a mile) on newly paved roads.
2. Follow
the Maine turnpike (I-95) north to the Houlton exit (exit #302,
old exit #62). Follow the US Route 1 signs
through town, then continue on Route 1 south
approximately 31 miles and turn left at Butterfield
Landing Road (approx. 4 miles north of Danforth you
will see a small blue and white sign for Rideout’s
Lodge - same intersection as “Grand Lake Variety” a
quick stop convenience store). Proceed down to the
lake and Lodge (less than a mile) on newly paved
roads.

Commercial Airline Flights
The closest major airport is Bangor
International Airport which is 1 hr and 45 minutes
south of the lodge. Rental cars are available at
the airport.
Nearest Small Airport
The nearest small airport is in
Houlton, Maine, which is about 31 miles north of
Rideout’s. The trip from the Houlton to the Lodge
takes approximately 45 minutes by either a rental
car (available in Houlton) or a local taxi. If a
taxi is elected the one way cost to the lodge is
about $60.
