Dear Friends,
Welcome to Rideout’s! You have just discovered the ideal source for outstanding Maine fishing
and delightful vacations. Rideout's Lakeside Lodge is an authentic, family-operated
Maine fishing lodge
located on East Grand Lake near the Canada border. We've been nationally recognized for our exceptional fishing for smallmouth bass
,
landlocked salmon
and lake trout
.
We are also known as “the Sporting Camp for family fun” because of our clean, comfortable
Maine cabin rentals, and our emphasis on other outdoor recreation such as
boating and
wildlife viewing.
Whether you’re looking for an authentic Maine fishing lodge with rustic rental cabins, or an affordable, outdoor
family vacation, you'll experience the best of the Maine North Woods here at Rideout's on East Grand Lake.
East Grand Lake Offers the Best Maine Bass & Salmon Fishing
Crystal-clear, 22-mile-long East Grand Lake, one of the largest unspoiled lakes in Maine, lies nestled in the beautiful forests of the Maine North Woods. This pristine natural setting helps our fish grow and flourish. In recent years, anglers have caught trophy-sized landlocked salmon (over 8 pounds!) in
East Grand Lake, and a recent national magazine confirmed that “you can catch 100 smallmouth bass a day” here under ideal conditions. We also have excellent lake trout fishing.
Over the years, Rideout’s has been featured in several national magazines, including Field and Stream and North American Fisherman, which have praised us for our quality Maine fishing and comfortable cabin accommodations. So if you're looking for a great fishing vacation at a
traditional Maine fishing lodge, Rideout's is your destination.
Rideout's
Rental Cabins
We know how important comfortable accommodations are for vacation pleasure. Rideout's features 20 clean, fully equipped, knotty-pine
Maine cabin rentals
. Our spacious cabins are situated on wooded lots with pleasing views of East Grand Lake. All cabins have electricity, automatic heat, full bath with shower or tub and flush toilets. Beds are firm and comfortable, and most are doubles. Most cabins have large, screened porches and sleep up to six. For your convenience, we offer several different lodging plans to suit every taste and budget, including our Housekeeping Plan (cabin rentals with kitchens) and our
American Plan (full-service meals-and-lodging packages).
Our Guests Return - Year After Year
Since 1947, we have worked hard to maintain an atmosphere that combines warm friendliness and relaxation, in a Maine fishing lodge environment. We are proud and honored that many Rideout's guests have returned year after year -- some for several generations! And, our new guests often remark that we make them feel "like family." This is due in large part to our friendly staff, who have a long history of providing superior customer service. Together with our reasonable rates and flexible vacation packages, this focus on our guests' comfort makes Rideout's stand out as a truly unique Maine fishing vacation experience.

East Grand Lake Fishing Conditions
Update as of 6/28/09: The last smallmouth bass are just leaving their
beds, and 2 days ago 2 experienced bass fishermen from Tennessee caught 100
bass in one day in 2-10 feet of water with either green or black senkos
(note that this is post-spawn fishing, not bed fishing!).
Salmon fishermen are still catching 17-21 inch salmon in 20 feet of
water on the Canadian side of Five Islands with #61 Sutton spoons and DB
smelts. There are also several reports of large salmon being
caught on the surface with tandem streamer flies. Large lake
trout are still being taken up to 9 pounds but the numbers have dropped off
a bit as the water warms up. Twelve to 18 inch brook trout are still
being taken in the rocks along the shoreline near Meetinghouse point
and in Dark Cove with Mepps spinners and dry flies.
