Rideout's Maine Housekeeping Cabins
Our housekeeping cabins are
all very comfortable and spacious, situated right on
East Grand Lake. Most of our
accommodations are close to shore, and the majority have large screened
porches to enjoy the night air. Our Maine cabin rentals vary in
size, but many are quite large and can sleep up to
six. All housekeeping cabins are fully equipped with fresh linens,
extra blankets, a stove, a refrigerator, an electric
coffee maker and all kitchenware (pots, pans,
serving utensils, silverware, plates, glasses, cups,
etc.). Also one set of towels is provided for
everyone each week.
Housekeeping Cabin Rental Plans
Guests staying in our rental cabins on the housekeeping plan
don’t have to worry about ready access to groceries
or supplies, as we are located within 4 miles of two
general stores that offer everything that you might
need. In addition, housekeeping cabin guests are welcome
to use the facilities in the main Lodge building as
you wish in the summer for fun and relaxation. Also, if scheduled in
advance, housekeeping cabin guests are welcome to join us for
dinner from Wednesday through Sunday in the summer,
when our “outside restaurant” is in full operation
(reservations required). You owe it to yourself to
visit our dining facility at least once
during your Maine vacation at Rideout's. Finally, because we have been
100% booked over much of our season in the past few
years we are now offering limited “off-peak”
discounts on our housekeeping plans. If
your vacation is flexible enough to allow a
visit during our “off-peak” season (early May, late
August, and early & late September) be sure to check
our Maine “Cabin Discounts” page for more information.

Inside housekeeping cabin #11
Our
Housekeeping Cabins Are Fully Equipped
If
you’ll be vacationing on our housekeeping plan, your
rental cabin will be fully equipped with everything you will
need to cook and serve food including: pots and
pans, glasses, cups, plates, silverware, cooking
utensils, and a 10 cup drip electric coffee maker. However there are a few other kitchen essentials
that you should pick up when you stop for groceries
including: plastic garbage bags, paper towels,
napkins, and dishwashing liquid (see full list
below). Also, as mentioned above we do provide one
set of towels a week for each of our guests
complimentary (a set includes a washrag, face towel,
and bath towel). If you need more than one set a
week be sure to bring along some extras from home.
Also if you plan to stay in one of our “lower half”
lakefront cabins (cabin #s 16, 18, 19, 24
and 26) note that they are plumbed to lake water, not
well water. You should bring some small empty
plastic containers to carry well water (there is a
spigot to obtain well water at the main lodge) for
cooking and coffee making (note that all the rest of
our cabins are plumbed to well water so containers
are unnecessary).
Dinner Options
Available to Housekeepers
During the summer season (late June - early September),
the following full course dinners* are available to our housekeeping cabin guests from Wednesday through Sunday of
each week. Advance reservations are required.

Housekeeping Cabin Dinner
Menu
Note that our restaurant is different
from a conventional “menu item” restaurant in that
all of our meals are served “family style”.
This means that the entrees (all except steak &
Atlantic salmon), side dishes and salads are kept
filled in large bowls/platters on the table for self
service, and homemade bread, bottomless hot and cold
drinks, and dessert are all included in the one meal
price. When meals are served in this manner, your
food is always plentiful and hot, and you get
precisely what you want…just like a fancy meal at
home.
Dinner
Options -
Wednesday through Sunday we offer the traditional
home cooked dinners which are the cornerstone of our
unique dining experience. The entrees include
Roast Loin of Pork (Wed), BBQ Chicken with Fettuccine Alfredo
(Thur), Baked Ham
with Pineapple Sauce (Fri), Pot Roast of Beef (Sat), and a Sunday “Thanksgiving
style” turkey dinner (the only dinner served at
12:30 pm, the rest are served at 6 pm).
However, during the
2008 season, Thursday and Friday nights will again
include three entrees instead of just one to pick
from. Thursday’s menu will include Ribeye Steak or
grilled Atlantic Salmon or the BBQ Chicken option, and
Friday’s menu will include Ribeye Steak or grilled
Atlantic Salmon or the Baked Ham option. All of
our dinners are complimented with crisp salads,
tasty side dishes, and our ever popular home baked
oatmeal bread, pastries, and pies…all of which are
baked fresh daily.
All
dinners are served promptly at 6:00 pm, except
for Turkey Dinner on Sunday which is served promptly
at 12:30 pm. Kids 12 and under are $2.00
off the adult price (except for steak and salmon
meals which are the full adult price). Also
breakfast and lunch is not offered, and dinner on
Monday and Tuesday is not offered, except for those
guests on the American Plan.
