Fishing

East Grand Lake has one of the best, if not the very best Landlocked Salmon fisheries in Maine. Trolling for salmon is great fun and these magnificent fish can be caught all season fishing at different depths depending on the water temperature. In 2013, we had many 24"+ fishing weighing in around 4  pounds caught with the "average" salmon being 18-22" in the 3+ pound range.

The Lake Trout (Togue) fishery is also very healthy with some very large fish being caught each season. These large fish typically live on the lake’s bottom as deep as over 100’ and can be anywhere from 28-36" weighing well over 10-12 pounds; some even heavier.

The Smallmouth Bass fishing has been described as the very best in the USA - and our legions of Bass Fishermen will attest to catching upwards of 80-100 fish per day during the annual spawn. It is not uncommon to land several fish over 5 pounds - with the average being in the 3-3.5 pounds range. It is so much fun to "sight cast" for smallies in our crystal clear, boulder-filled lake - a unique experience.

Bass Brook Trout are also being caught in  increasing size each year due to an  aggressive stocking program that is working  very nicely. We had several 14-16" brookies  caught last season - this proves they are  thriving in East Grand Lake; great news for  all.

White Perch fishing is also very popular - it is  especially fun for kids to catch fish after fish;  lots of fun.

Steps to Great Fishing

 1. Get your licenses ahead of time. Booking  your Maine or Canadian license online makes  for a quicker transition to getting on the  water.  See our license page for direct links.

 2. If you are bringing your own boat, please  make sure you purchase your milfoil stickers  ahead of time. Local town offices would also  have stickers.

 3. Visit our tackle shop for extra supplies or  to find that lucky lure.
